For me, distance from campus and the transportation are the most important because I care more about how I get to the campus. I mean I need to know if I can arrive at my school just in a short time and how much money I need to pay on transportation, etc. I want my apartment to be in a location that is very convenient for me to attend classes every day. Obviously, this is the most important part of a student’s life, I mean, the academic aspect, isn’t it? So, I would like to simply ride bike to my campus. In that case, my apartment had better be no more than 5 or 10 kilometers.

If you need to teach old people in your community to use electronic devices, which way do you think is better?

1. to gather them together in the instruction center for lessons

2. to teach them individually in their home

For me, it is better to go to their home and teach them individually because it would be safe and convenient for them. You know, the instruction center may be a distance from their home, and they probably need to take bus or taxi to attend the class. Since they are quite old and likely to have some health problems, taking bus or taxi might not be a safe thing for them. If I go to their home, they don’t have that kind of trouble. They can simply enjoy the comfort of their sofa and familiar atmosphere in their own place. At least, if I become old, I would rather stay at home.

Concerning children upbringing, some people believe that in the past it was a much easier job than now, because at that time life was simple and parents suffer less pressure. However, from my perspective, modern parents enjoy much more ease when it comes to raising their children.

Nowadays parents have more resources to draw on because of modern technology. In the past, technology was not advanced so that there were only very limited resources adults have access to. As a result, they were not as informed as now, which means that they could only listen to advice and suggestions from people around. This limitation of information sources creates difficulty in taking care of younger children. However, in the modern society, science and technology improves, so a great number of electronic devices, such as televisions, computers and smart phones, have been invented. So people with insufficient experience of looking after a baby are able to take advantage of all these innovations. They can learn from educational programs on TV that it is advisable to give children more praises and less criticism. They can also search for all possible information on the Internet to equip themselves with an all-rounded knowledge of children’s physiological and psychological development. By using numerous applications on their phone, they can communicate with experts about breast feeding, cleaning, or vaccination. Or, they can chat with parents from different backgrounds and exchange valuable nursing experience. Taking advantage of all these resources, modern parents are able to get better informed of anything they want to know about childcare, so they find it much easier to raise their children in a scientific and proper way.

Take my own experience as an example. When my parents started to have me as an infant, there was not the Internet for them to get information about how to raise a child. They felt frustrated when any possible measure had been taken to stop me from crying and make me sleep. But when I am a parent now, things have changed. I know from the Internet that there are various reasons why a baby will cry and they correspond to different but specific ways to pacify it. Therefore, you can see that when I am taking care of a child, I find it not that difficult.

To sum up, for most parents in modern society, just because of the numerous innovative technologies, there are now many channels from which they can get information. Thus, it becomes easier for them to have a better knowledge of bringing up a kid, thereby making it an easier thing to do.
